Podcast Librarian’s Review:
I've listened to many different money podcasts and have enjoyed some quite a bit, but this is the only one that can make me crack up consistently. It's not so much about money as it is about the awkward situations that we encounter because of money--kind of like a finance-only Dear Abby. Each episode opens with one of the hosts sharing a short anecdote about a funny non-finance-related awkward situation. Then, Allison and Chris answer a listener-submitted question that has something to do with money. Finally, they finish with "What We're Loving" which is exactly what it sounds like--they just talk about a TV show, product, or something else that they are enjoying that is unrelated to finances. None of this sounds too groundbreaking, but the best part of this show is Allison and Chris's banter and comradery. They're two very different people, which makes it much more interesting to hear their individual answers to the listeners' dilemmas. Also, I rarely comment on people's voices, but they have some fun ones--Allison sounds like a Texan Disney princess, and Chris has the smoothest radio voice and a joyful laugh. They keep each other (and me) giggling constantly throughout the episode but also offer good, realistic advice for how to deal with the awkward situations like when you can't afford to be a bridesmaid, your friend is a bad tipper, or you're hiding money issues from your spouse/partner. If you only listen to one money show, make it this one!
